The Structural Engineering Licensure Coalition (SELC) serves as a united voice advocating for structural engineering licensure. With the transition of the PE Structural exam to the new computer-based testing (CBT) format in April 2024, SELC is aware of concerns regarding the supplied reference manual, codes and standards, the length of the exam, the amount of pre-test items, and the overall testing environment.
Many examinees have shared feedback about their CBT exam experience with their SEA NCSEA, SEI, and CASE. This feedback has been communicated to NCEES and its various licensing boards and has contributed to upcoming changes to the exam. Since state licensing boards are member boards of NCEES and use the PE Structural exam to license structural engineers, it is crucial that individuals voice their concerns directly to state licensing boards to ensure that their perspectives are being heard. Additionally, current candidates who have experienced the exam firsthand should submit feedback directly to NCEES through your MyNCEES account.
